Naughty Nana Book Release

The children’s picture book, Naughty Nana, is being launched this month, just in time for holiday shopping.  Written by former teacher and administrator, Saralyn Richard, and illustrated by veteran artist Rebecca Evans, it tells of the mostly-true exploits of an irresistible Old English sheepdog puppy, who just wants to have fun.  Her laugh-out-loud adventures will give readers many hours of memorable and thought-provoking pleasure.
Reading is so important to the development of children, and this book is not only entertaining, but also presents a positive message for young readers.  It will be of interest to adults who have children or grandchildren, as well as all of the dog lovers out there.
 Naughty Nana
The book is available in hardback and softcover through the website:  https://palmcirclepress.com.  Purchasers can opt for autographs by the author and by Nana, herself!

Speaking with SCBWI

This past weekend I had the opportunity to speak at a regional SCBWI event. I had such a great time sharing my experience with other members and getting to know my fellow writers and illustrators better. I wanted to share with everyone a blog post by one of our regional advisors about the event. Sue is amazing and I can’t wait to spend more time with her this year!

Rebecca Evans Children's Book Illustrator The Shopkeeper's Bear

The Shopkeeper’s Bear Book Release

I’m so excited to officially announce the release of “The Shopkeeper’s Bear” written by Janie DeVos and illustrated by Rebecca Evans (yours truly)! It is an adorable story, and if I do say so myself… beautiful illustrations 🙂 I couldn’t wait to share it with you all. You can purchase the book on Amazon.

Check out our official Press Release:

The Shopkeeper's BearLittle Giggles Press is pleased to announce their newest release just in time for the holidays, The Shopkeeper’s Bear.   Written by seasoned children’s book author, Janie DeVos, and richly illustrated by Rebecca Evans, The Shopkeeper’s Bear has the makings of becoming a true classic. The fun begins when a far-sighted shopkeeper mistakes a bear for a woman “wrapped up in a fur” and hires her as his new assistant.  Business increases, but once the shopkeeper realizes that his assistant is a bear, will her smart running of the place be enough to keep her employed there?  Perhaps not.  But maybe something far more important will.  Written in DeVos’ signature style of rhyme, this gentle tale of love, acceptance and tolerance is sure to touch the hearts of both young and old alike.  The book is available through numerous bookstores, and online stores such as Amazon.  It is also available directly through Little Giggles Press, at www.littlegigglespress.com; as well as the author’s website at www.janiedevos.com, and the illustrator’s website at www.rebeccaevans.net.  The book is age appropriate for 4 – 7.

Happy Reading!

Exciting News!

Hello Everyone, I know I’ve been a little quiet lately but as you can see I’ve been busy creating a new and awesome site for you all to visit! I hope you like the way it turned out as much as I do. I’ve also been hard at work on my new books. Yes, you hear me correctly… BOOKS! Right now I can’t share the details, but I’ve begun work on some very new and VERY exciting projects with a new client. Unfortunately you will all have to hold your breath and wait for the juicy details later because it’s all still top secret for right now. But, keep your eyes and ears on my blog and in a few months you’ll be excited as I am!

Having fun with SCBWI

This weekend I attended my regional SCBWI (MD/DE/WV) summer conference: “Creating Sparks: Kindle the Fire of Imagination” and I had an amazing time! I heard some wonderful presentations by the bubbly and funny editor Mary Kate Castellani and Rotem Moscovich who was so sweet and kind. I had the opportunity to me Agent Quinlan Lee and had fun laughing with her about how we both felt like giggly schoolgirls when we shook hands with literary rockstars like Richard Peck or Deborah Wiles. I also took a fantastic workshop with Illustrator/Amazingly talented jack-of-all-trades Jamie Zollars about collage and mixed media. It was so much fun to just be able to play with different techniques and mediums that I don’t usually use in my own studio. And we were all amazed by her hauntingly beautiful work and her willingness to share her experience with us. I had so much fun playing with collage that I’m considering incorporating some new ideas into my upcoming books. And even though I only had a short window of time I really liked the way my little experimental project turned out.

I love the SCBWI because I get to rub elbows with such amazing and talented people in the world of Children’s Literature and Art, and they are always so friendly and honest and love to share their experiences to help other’s in their journey. Thank you to everyone who taught, coordinated, presented, or participated in this past weekend’s conference. I walked away with a brain full of information, a notebook bursting with ideas and hands itching to get back to my paintbrushes.

The Shopkeeper’s Bear

The last few weeks I’ve been racing toward my deadline with Little Giggles Press for the illustrations for “The Shopkeepers Bear”. I just finished and wrapped them all up and sent them off to the Publisher. It’s been such a fun project to work on having her adorable little bear smile (or should I say big bear smile, since she’s not really that small!) staring up at me from the pages on my drawing board. And I’ve had such a good time working with her author Janie DeVos and Editor Pat McGrath Avery. But I’m excited to finally send her off for the next step in her journey and then in November finally get to see her in print! Just as a teaser I though you all might like to get a peek inside our newest book, but keep and eye on my blog because we’re just getting started on our next book which I’m SO excited to be illustrating!
